Children often yearn for the day when they are no longer encumbered by rules and restrictions, most of which are imposed by their parents. With that longed-for freedom comes numerous responsibilities as each of us adults – and particularly parents – is keenly aware.
Case in point: television consumption. No matter who in the family holds the remote at a particular time, the ultimate control belongs to the person paying the bills. Good thing too…can you wrap your mind around the sheer number of programs your kids might have access to without your supervision?
Luckily you don’t have to think too much about that scenario. Evolving industry standards and content filtering technology gives you some peace of mind.
Parents have many ways to create the experience that is right for their family by managing what their kids watch and don’t watch. Verizon FiOS TV makes it easy by putting you in control of programming and allowing you to block inappropriate programs and channels. FiOS TV Parental Control tools let you:
• Selectively block programming by channel or rating.
• Selectively block Pay-Per-View and On Demand purchases.
• Set up two different user-defined PINs (one for purchases and one to block programs.)
• Hide adult programming from the TV Listings.
The most important thing to remember here is to talk with your kids. Plan to engage in a constructive dialogue where you both get a chance to voice suggestions and concerns.
As for the filtering tools currently at your disposal, what do you think of them? Is there something you’d like the ability to do but cannot at present?

I also agree that time range settings need to be an option.
I would like the parental control to also limit access by time. Like by setting a time range ie 2:30pm to 6:00pm when certain channel are not available.
